WESTGATE ON SEA

Westgate-on-Sea is a delightful Victorian seaside town on the north-east coast of Kent, nestled between Margate and Birchington-on-Sea. Developed in the 1860s as an exclusive coastal retreat for the upper-middle classes, it retains much of its period charm with Victorian canopied shops, elegant terraces, and a relaxed, nostalgic atmosphere.

The town boasts two sandy bays—West Bay and St Mildred’s Bay—both ideal for family outings, rockpooling, and sunset strolls. St Mildred’s Bay was even home to a Royal Naval Air Service seaplane base during World War I, with remnants of the slipways still visible.
