Jumping Puma

I often get asked about this picture i took and yes there’s a story behind it.

I used to attend a few events held by the wonderful John Wright who ran Photographers on Safari.

This event was “shooting” (taking pictures) big cats.

Firstly this was shot through a fence in case you think we were allowed in, its far too dangerous. The idea was for the puma to jump across a pond where on the other side was food for it to get. The trick is to capture the puma in flight so its sharp and boy are they quick!

The tip is to set your camera ready to focus on the space the puma jumps into it, if you get one shot, you have done well, the rest will be space shots of the lovely area where the puma is which clearly wasnt the intention.

Heres my capture, im quite chuffed with it!
